It’s been assumed that former Jackson State two-way star Travis Hunter would follow Deion Sanders to the Colorado Buffaloes, and he made that transfer decision official in very interesting — and very 2022 — fashion on Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, Hunter tweeted, “At 100k [YouTube] subscribers I’m announcing my commitment.” The tweet featured a photo showing the former five-star recruit’s YouTube subscriber count at 71.6k.

Well, on Wednesday night, Hunter indeed reached the 100,000 YouTube subscribers mark, and he indeed proceeded to announce where he would transfer to play college football in 2023.

Hunter announced on a YouTube video that he’ll join Sanders at Colorado.

One of the biggest recruiting stories in years was last December, when Sanders got Hunter to flip his commitment from Florida State to an FCS school in Jackson State. Hunter was widely viewed as a top-two recruit in the country, with many outlets ranking him as the No. 1 recruit.

After going 12-1 at Jackson State in 2022, Sanders and Hunter will look to continue the success at a Pac-12 program.

Hunter — listed at 6’1″, 165 pounds — played wide receiver and cornerback for Jackson State. He had 18 receptions and four touchdowns as a wide receiver, and two interceptions — including a pick-six — as a cornerback.

While it’s been widely assumed that Hunter would follow Sanders to Boulder, Hunter said on Monday, “I want to follow Coach Prime too, but I need to know if it’s a fit for me. If it’s not a fit for me, I’m not going. I just want everybody to know that.”

Maybe Hunter really wasn’t sure where he wanted to transfer two days ago, or maybe he just wanted to keep the college football world discussing it- and get that YouTube subscriber count to 100,000-plus.

Sanders has been confident in getting Hunter to join the Buffaloes, at least.

Last week, Sanders was asked on an Instagram chat when Hunter would transfer to Colorado, and responded, “Real soon. What you think Travis is going to do? What is wrong with y’all sometimes?”

Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that Sanders could land another five-star cornerback talent.
