Throughout his seven seasons as the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Urban Meyer saw the Michigan Wolverines as his biggest rival. But now as a college football analyst for Fox and the Big Ten Network, the two-time national champion head coach sees the Wolverines as something else: the top team in college football.
In an interview with fellow Big Ten Network analyst Gerry DiNardo, Urban Meyer revealed that he thinks Michigan should be the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff rankings due to its dominant performance against the Buckeyes in their rivalry showdown.
They were No. 3, and beat then-No. 2 by three scores on the road.

“Once again, I think the committee’s responsibility, from what I understand, is that it’s a week-t0-week evaluation,” Urban Meyer said on BTN. “They beat them by three scores. One of the top 2 most talented teams in America. Offense, defense were on point. The offensive line controlled the game, the defensive line controlled the game.
“From last week, the Wolverines should be No. 1,” Meyer concluded.
The Wolverines were ranked No. 2 in the penultimate College Football Playoff rankings, behind only the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs. However, Michigan all but punched its ticket to the College Football Playoff with last Saturday’s win over the Buckeyes.
