Big Noon Kickoff

When it comes to the school that Urban Meyer thinks is the best college football team in the nation right now, it’s hardly a surprise to find out that he thinks it’s Ohio State.

During Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff in Columbus on Saturday, host Rob Stone asked who thinks that Ohio State, currently No. 2 in the AP Poll, is the top team in the country. That’s when Meyer raised his hand.

“I know this is shocking, but they have the best all three phases,” Meyer said. “Their only weakness is their schedule. It’s 110th and it’s about to get worse. But the last game of the season [against Michigan], it’s right here, and that’s going to make a difference.”

Meyer was being facetious as it is not at all shocking that Urban picked the Buckeyes. Before his disastrous stint in the NFL, he was the head coach at Ohio State between 2012 to 2018 where he won three Big Ten championships and a national title.

Not to be outdone, the Big Noon Kickoff crew was asked to give their picks for the College Football Playoff and Meyer also had the Buckeyes there, along with defending champion Georgia, Tennessee, and UCLA.

There’s still plenty of football to be played and, who knows, some of those teams might lose today and change the entire trajectory of their season and these predictions. But you can always assume that, so long as Ohio State remains undefeated, Meyer is going to consider them the top team in the nation.
