Southern Cal head coach Lincoln Riley has announced that Gary Bryant Jr., one of the top wide receivers in the country coming out of high school, will redshirt the rest of the season. However, it doesn’t sound like his plan is to play for the Trojans in 2023.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Bryant is considering transferring to another school. So far this season, he only has two receptions in USC’s three games.
#USC WR Gary Bryant Jr., who was a potential top prospect for this year’s NFL Draft, is redshirting, sources confirm. He’ll strongly consider transferring and will be highly sought after if/when he does. https://t.co/TCQ8OdsNzG

Rapoport said that Bryant “was a potential top prospect for this year’s NFL Draft” and will “strongly consider transferring and will be highly sought after if/when he does.”
While the USC offense is doing well this year as they rise through the polls, Bryant, who many thought would be the star on this team, is currently the third receiver option behind transfers Jordan Addison and Mario Williams, both of whom transferred into the program.
Bryant was considered a four-star prospect coming out of high school and the most experienced receiver on the team before Riley became the head coach. His patience appears to be wearing thin and he wants more catches now.
It’s hard to imagine Bryant will have a hard time finding a landing spot given his potential and ability.
