The ACC has seen some incredible quarterbacks through the years.
None of them could match what Sam Hartman has done.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons quarterback’s touchdown pass in the first quarter against the Missouri Tigers in the Gasparilla Bowl was the 108th of his career, an ACC record.
Sam Hartman is officially the ACC’s All-Time Passing TD leader. What a career & comeback story! #GasparillaBowl https://t.co/R5jxNh5yuw

Consider all the great quarterbacks that have played in the ACC, just in the past 20 years. Philip Rivers, Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson, Trevor Lawrence, Jameis Winston … the list goes on.
Hartman’s feat is even more amazing considering he did it at Wake Forest, which gets lost in the shuffle among all the traditional ACC powers (Clemson, Florida State, Syracuse, Miami, etc.).
The Wake Forest QB topped all those future Pro Bowl quarterbacks, playing at higher profile schools. He broke the record held since 2013 by Clemson’s Tajh Boyd.
Hartman made bizarre news in early-December after a report that he had surgery to get a rib removed — and he had stored the rib in his refrigerator with plans to turn it into a necklace.
A fifth-year redshirt junior, Hartman will not return to Wake Forest next season and is entering the NFL Draft.
Hartman led the Demon Deacons to a 7-5 record this season entering their bowl game against Missouri.
