If you’re visiting Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman’s house, don’t go digging around in the refrigerator for a snack. You could be in for a really nasty surprise.

ESPN’s David Hale reported Friday that the talented quarterback revealed he had a rib removed. He is storing it in his refrigerator and plans to have it made into a necklace.

Whatever your favorite missing rib story, from the holy (Adam’s story from the Bible) to the unholy (shock rocker Marilyn Manson’s urban legend), Hartman keeping his old rib in the refrigerator is definitely on the strange side.

Hartman, a fifth-year redshirt junior, is not returning to Wake Forest next season and plans to enter the NFL Draft. Despite missing the season opener while dealing with a blood clot, Hartman has put up prolific numbers this season: 3,421 passing yards and 35 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.

College football fans weren’t sure what to make of the missing-rib-in-the-fridge report.

“Sam Hartman’s roommate is going to come home stoned one night and enjoy himself one hell of a forbidden rib snack,” tweeted one user.

“Can I tell you a story about another guy who did something special with a removed rib,” tweeted Jason Kirk.
