Herm Edwards

Herm Edwards has made his way back to Bristol.

The former head football coach has re-joined ESPN, the network announced on Monday. He reunites with the network after spending five seasons as the coach for the Arizona State Sun Devils. That tenure recently ended with a black cloud hanging over it, with allegations of impermissible behavior and looming sanctions set to hit the program. But that did not stop this reunion from happening, as Herm will serve as an NFL and college football analyst for the network.

“In his new role, Edwards will contribute to ESPN’s NFL and college football coverage across a variety of shows and platforms,” ESPN revealed in their press release on the acquisition. The release goes on to say that Herm will appear on a variety of ESPN shows including Get Up, NFL Live, and SportsCenter, where he will make his official return this Friday, November 4.

Herm Edwards was with ESPN for several years prior to taking the ASU job. For the most part, he did a pretty good job and more than held his own with plenty of legitimacy. While the past few years with the Sun Devils obviously didn’t end well, the expectation should be that he easily slides back into the role he left carved out for him in 2018.

The sports media world reacted to the news of Edwards’ return to ESPN on Tuesday. Almost overwhelmingly, the reaction was quite positive:
