ESPN has seen many great anchors come and go over the years. Now, another legend and staple of the network’s flagship program, SportsCenter, is joining the group of people who have departed the network.
According to Awful Announcing, Linda Cohn will be leaving the Worldwide Leader after her contract runs out at the end of the month, as the sides failed to agree on a new role for her moving forward.
Cohn had enjoyed the work-life balance of her role hosting the 1 AM Eastern SportCenter that was produced from Los Angeles and relocated to the West Coast for the job. However, ESPN decided to move 1 AM SportsCenter back to Bristol in May of 2025, resulting in Cohn’s role shifting to hosting SportsCenter from Bristol and other special projects.
After 34 years at ESPN, cross-country flights and hotel stays became too much of an obstacle to continuing her career at the network. An official announcement “is expected as early as tomorrow, with multiple editions of SportsCenter having Cohn to celebrate her time with the company planned for later in the week,” per Awful Announcing.
Many of ESPN’s stalwarts who have departed the network, a list that includes Kenny Mayne, Neil Everett, and Stan Verett, have gone on to launch personal projects. Evertett and Verett host a twice-a-week Twitch show. Cohn already teased her next career chapter earlier this month in a plug for her YouTube channel.

Regardless of what’s next, 34 years in the business is as great a run as they come.
