Tom Brady is about to enter his age-42 season, fresh off his sixth Super Bowl victory with the New England Patriots. To continue playing at such a high level at this age takes an incredible amount of motivation, and Brady is even finding it from comments made years ago by the media.
On Thursday, Brady posted an Instagram photo indicating he threw a football 61 mph. For perspective, only Josh Allen has thrown with a higher velocity (62 mph) at the NFL Combine since 2008. The photo included a caption: “He’s Gonna Fall Off A Cliff.”

That’s surely referencing one of Brady’s doubters over the years, ESPN’s Max Kellerman.
In a July 2016 edition of First Take, Kellerman said that Brady “is going to fall off a cliff” and “be a bum in short order.”
That take certainly hasn’t aged well for Kellerman, with Brady winning the Super Bowl twice and reaching the Super Bowl all three times since then. Brady has averaged 30 touchdown passes, just seven interceptions, and a 104.2 passer rating (97.6 for his career) over those three seasons.
