In an effort to cure a downward trend in revenue in recent years, McDonald’s is making some changes to their most well known and popular menu items.

Most notable is the Big Mac and McDonald’s announced that two new Big Mac sandwiches called the “Mac Jr.” and “Grand Mac” will join the menu in early 2017.

The names are rather self explanatory. The Mac Jr. (sounding a bit familiar to Burger King’s Whopper and Whopper Jr.) is a smaller burger than the regular Big Mac. The Mac Jr. is going to have one 1/6 pound burger patty compared to the regular Big Mac’s two 1/10 pound burger patties. And then obviously, the Grand Mac is bigger, 66% more beef in fact. It’ll also have an extra slice of cheese and a bigger bun. According to Business Insider, you will be able to try these new sandwiches in Florida and the Pittsburgh area this month until they launch nationally in early 2017.

This comes at a time where the once dominant fast food restaurant has seen fewer and fewer profits. Whether it’s a greater variety of fast food restaurants chipping away at their standing, a demand of better quality in terms of food and ambiance by customers or just having additional options, McDonald’s has been making more and more changes out of necessity and that can only be great for the public.
