It’s very unlikely that when you stop into McDonald’s for your Quarter Pounder, you’re hoping to be served a side of glitz and glamour. But just in case you have wildly unrealistic expectations for your fast food experience, McDonald’s has an opportunity for you.

You’re gonna want to head to the United Kingdom where McDonald’s has commissioned London designer Julien Macdonald to design a luxury takeaway box for their new line of “gourmet” burgers (quotations ours).

This isn’t the same old generic McDonald’s burger box. This one features a baroque gold print, sequins, and crystals. Macdonald said he drew inspiration for the design “from my fashion creations and iconic embellished red-carpet dresses.”

Very excited to finally reveal my bespoke box with @mcdonalds to celebrate the nationwide roll out of #TheSignatureCollection #ad

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to walk into your neighborhood McDonald’s and order a burger in a crystal-lined box. Aside from one they’ve already auctioned off to benefit the Ronald McDonald House, the rest will be made available special events in McDonald’s across the U.K. Customers there can sign up beforehand for the chance to be able to buy a box (presumably with a burger inside). There are 1,000 designer boxes so get ready to see a bunch of them on eBay as collector items.
