Nick Wright proposes a bold prediction — Bill Belichick and Dak Prescott joining the New York Giants as a package deal next season. Screengrab: FS1’s ‘The Herd’

While Bill Belichick will be gracing your screens on the ManningCast this season instead of pacing the sidelines, the legendary coach might not be done with the NFL. An ESPN longform article hinted that Belichick could set his sights on the NFC East, with the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants all potential landing spots if those teams struggle.

Looking at New York, in particular, could be a favorable situation for Belichick, who has immense ties to the franchise. He would likely get his choice of quarterback, as the team—barring an unforeseen miracle—will almost undoubtedly move on from the embattled Daniel Jones.

That’s led to Fox Sports personality Nick Wright predicting an unlikely pairing in The Big Apple — Belichick and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

“Can I give you — not a conspiracy theory — but a long-term prediction that I haven’t shared anywhere,” Wright told Colin Cowherd on The Herd Tuesday. “You brought up the Jets, which made me think of the Giants. So, I think it’s really on the board and (NFL Network’s) Daniel Jeremiah alluded to this, that Drew Lock ends up starting more games this year than Daniel Jones. That the Giants are clearly in a transition period this season. I think it is on the board that Dak Prescott and Bill Belichick are a package deal next season to the New York Giants.

“Belichick gets to come back to the Giants. They get to steal away the Cowboys’ quarterback and answer that problem instead of (rebuild). Because everywhere Bill could go, it’s like, ‘Well, the job’s probably open because they don’t have a quarterback.’ He’s already been through that. I think Bill and Dak could go and remake an entire organization, head coach and quarterback, in a year with Dak Prescott, the free agent, and Bill Belichick, the head coach. And I think the New York Giants are a very viable possibility.”

Wright’s theory is interesting and very well could come true, but a couple of things may have to happen before the ball gets rolling here.
