Houston furniture store owner Jim McIngvale, affectionately known as “Mattress Mack” in the sports world, has become famous for his gigantic sports wagers over the years, and it looks like he’s at it again with another massive $1 million bet on the Houston Astros to win the 2022 World Series.

Mattress Mack’s latest wager has odds of +500, meaning if the Astros do win the World Series, Mack’s bet will earn him a profit of $5 million.

As a resident of the state of Texas, where sports gambling is not legalized, the famed bettor had to travel to a different state to place his latest wager, flying into Iowa.

“We’re in Iowa making giant bets,” Mattress Mack said in a video from Bleacher Report. “Two giant bets on the Houston Astros to win the World Series. We can win at Unibet and Betfred.”

“We’re gonna pound the Astros to win the World Series,” he continued.

The latest wager is not the only massive wager the furniture store owner has placed on the Astros this year. According to Sports Illustrated, McIngvale had already placed a $2 million bet on Houston to win the World Series at +550 odds on Thursday. He had also previously $3 million on the Astros to become the champions of Major League Baseball at 10-1 odds back in May and another $1 million in May at 12-1 odds.

In total, that would mean that Mattress Mack has wagered $7 million on the Astros to win this year’s World Series. If Houston does indeed take the World Series crown, Mack will win a whopping $57.6 million.

The man is clearly a high roller, and that would be one incredible payday.
