Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney has already had some serious overlap with sports in her career, starring a movie portraying professional boxer Christy Martin titled Christy.

However, Sweeney’s boyfriend, Scooter Braun, has made it clear that some of the other overlap she has had with sports, he’s not such a big fan of. Page Six reported earlier this year that Braun has been “frustrated by athletes constantly sliding” into her DMs on social media. Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua even shot his shot with the actress, although he at least did so publicly.

It would appear that Sweeney is well aware of the influence she has in the sporting world, as she was recently featured in an extremely provocative ad campaign for Novig, a sports betting platform.

“Selling your body to a gambling company.”

Fans on social media had some shockingly strong feelings about the ad.

“Sydney Sweeney has no respect for herself,” one fan posted on X.

“I’m embarrassed for her,” someone else posted.

“Selling your body to a gambling company. There will be a new book in the bible about this one day,” someone else added.

“I would NEVER complain about Sydney Sweeney naked, but… Her naked in a bet ad really shows that Scooter’s got way too much control over her career and that could be really bad for her in the long run. At least before it seemed like she had a plan,” another fan wrote.

Not her first rodeo

This isn’t the first major backlash from an ad campaign Sweeny has faced this year. She also had to address criticism she faced for an American Eagle jeans advertisement that leaned into a double meaning between “great jeans” and “great genes,” which some critics interpreted as a dog whistle for eugenics and white supremacy, especially considering Sweeney’s blonde hair and blue eyes.

“I did a jean ad,” Sweeney said about the backlash. “The reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”

“I wasn’t thinking of it like that, of any of it,” she explained. “I kind of just put my phone away. I was filming every day. I’m filming Euphoria, so I’m working 16-hour days and I don’t really bring my phone on set, so I work and then I go home and I go to sleep. So I didn’t really see a lot of it.”
