Summertime is a great opportunity to learn new things. And for a pair of young paddleboarders, they had the opportunity to witness one of the coolest stories of the summer.

Celine Chasteen and her friend were paddleboarding in Jupiter, Florida when they were joined by an unexpected third guest: a baby manatee, who apparently saw what the pair were doing and figured that it could join in on the fun. Before Celine and her friend knew it, the manatee used its front flippers to grasp the side of one of the paddleboards and proceed to float in the ocean. Clearly, it became interested in learning how to paddleboard like the pros do.

Fortunately, Celine and her friend did not panic or scare the manatee, nor did they attempt to touch it or harm it in any way. It hung to the board for a little while before it eventually swam away. It seemed to have perhaps realized that, at the end of the day, it wasn’t quite up for the whole paddleboarding thing, and that it will just stick to what it does best and just stick to swimming.
