This week, Brooks Koepka had a dominant performance at the 105th PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club on Sunday, winning the tournament to clinch his fifth major. And with that win, it sent a pretty clear message to the golf world that LIV Golfers can still be competitive.

The victory from Brooks Koepka marked the first major championship win from a LIV Golf athlete, and some of those athletes think it validates what the league is trying to do.

“It validates everything we’ve said from the beginning: That we’re competing at the highest level and we have the ability to win major championships,” Bryson DeChambeau of LIV Golf said according to ESPN. “I really hope people can see the light now that we’re trying to provide the game of golf with something new and fresh. I think at the end of the day, both sides are going to have to come together at some point. It’s for the good of the game.”

Koepka himself echoed those claims while still making it clear that his primary focus is on his own game.

“Yeah, I definitely think it helps LIV, but I’m more interested in my own self right now, to be honest with you,” Koepka said according to ESPN. “Yeah, it’s a huge thing for LIV, but at the same time, I’m out here competing as an individual at the PGA Championship. I’m just happy to take this home for the third time.”

If LIV Golf athletes are able to see continued success at majors throughout the golf calendar, it will be interesting to see what happens to the relationship between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour.
