After LIV Golf had its Official World Golf Ranking application officially rejected, there is now no clear path for LIV Golf players to qualify for Major Championships. But Bryson DeChambeau has a plan to help solve that problem.
During an interview session at the LIV Golf event in Saudi Arabia this week, Bryson DeChambeau expressed his concern about the pretty brutal news that LIV Golf players can’t qualify for majors but pointed out that LIV is still a great opportunity for everyone despite that.
“It’s honestly sad that they’ve done that, and people are going to say that it’s sad that we came over here, but, look, this is an amazing opportunity for every one of us,” DeChambeau said according to Outkick. “In regards to the OWGR, it is what it is.”
DeChambeau thinks that LIV Golf players should have the chance to qualify, given that some of the best players in the world play in LIV Golf. He proposes using the LIV Golf money list or the points list at the end of the year for whether or not to allow players to qualify.
“I think at this point in time now that they’re not allowing it, we would love to find another way to be integrated into the major championship system since I think we have some of the best players in the world,” DeChambeau said from LIV Golf’s event in Saudi Arabia this week. “Top 12 on the money list at the end of the year or the points list at the end of the year would be, I think, obvious for the major championships to host the best players in the world at those four events each year.”
It will certainly be interesting to see if anything changes to allow these players to play compete in Majors.
