Golf fans and media members have been asking for months why long-time PGA Tour golfers like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Sergio Garcia have decided to leave, even if temporary, to play in the LIV Golf International Series.
For the first time, the public may have gotten an honest answer from one of them. Bryson DeChambeau admitted Wednesday that the reason why he left was, quite simply, the money.
No surprise here, but source says Bryson DeChambeau is getting over $100,000,000 guaranteed to join LIV Golf.
The Saudi-backed league have paid somewhere between $400 and $500 million for Bryson, Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson.

“It was a business decision, first and foremost,” DeChambeau said. “That’s all there was to it. It’s given me a lot more opportunities outside of the game of golf and given me more time with my family and my future family. So for me, that was the decision.
Many people have accused the golfers of being greedy and selfish and only looking out for their own self-interest especially knowing that Saudi Arabia, which is backing the new golf league, has been accused of human rights violations and terrorism.
Terry Strada whose husband died during the attacks of 9/11, blasted Phil Mickelson and other golfers, calling them sellouts for playing for the Saudis. But that doesn’t seem to have affected anyone.
DeChambeau says he still wants to split time between the two, but he knows that may not be possible.
“It’s not my decision to make,” he added. “That’s someone else’s decision that’s making that for me.”
