A number of prominent players have already made the move to leave the PGA Tour in favor of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour, and if recent reports are any indication, they are set to add yet another former Masters champion to their increasing list of golfers.

According to The Telegraph, veteran golfer Bubba Watson is set to be the latest to be joining LIV Golf and will play in Boston for the tour in September.

LIV has made it clear that its strategy is to bring in big names that have been major champions in the past with Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Sergio Garcia all fitting that criteria. Watson certainly fits exactly that mold, winning the Masters twice in his career and being a prominent name in the sport for years.

It is believed that Watson will receive around $50 million for joining LIV, and will be one of the 12 captains for the event in Boston. He has been one of the most beloved players on the PGA Tour for years, so it will certainly be interesting to see the backlash for this decision given the controversy that has surrounded the new tour since its inception.

LIV is clearly serious about becoming a prominent name in golf, and they may be getting more eyes on their product if they are able to add longtime Turner Sports analyst Charles Barkley to their broadcasting team moving forward.

It remains to be seen if that will go down, with Barkley giving an ultimatum to LIV Golf and Commissioner Greg Norman that he needs an offer by Thursday or he will walk away from the tour and stay with TNT.

For the time being, Watson will be the latest big name to join LIV, but that could change in the very near future.
