Murphy’s Law: anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. It’s normally rare to see it actually come true; generally, no matter how bad things can go, they could have gone worse.

Sometimes, though, a golfer decides to try to hit a shot from the icy surface of a frozen pond. And then, well:

Talk about winter rules, huh? Oh, also, he’s probably fine. His main mistake, aside from deciding to take a swing from the ice in the first place, was taking such a big swing in general. That’s a hero shot. Once you slide out there and decide to play it as it lies, you’re already a hero. Cut down on the swing, make a little pitch out, and you’re a legend. There’s no need to go with the full rip.

In any case, it’s a nice reminder that no matter how poorly your day has gone, you didn’t fall through the ice trying to hit a golf ball, and then have the video circulated online. So that’s good.
