Tiger Woods is only two years away from joining the PGA Tour Champions (formerly the Senior PGA Tour) and according to reports, the age 50-plus tour is already prepping for him.
Apparently, he can’t wait, either.
Some are saying that Woods is already looking forward to having his own grand slam of sorts, winning the U.S. Senior Open, to go along with his trophies from the U.S. Junior, U.S. Amateur, and U.S. Open, all of which he’s won three times. He’ll also be able to ride in carts on this tour.
“He’d love to win that Grand Slam and get some of the other senior majors on his CV,” Pádraig Harrington told Golf Week. “I saw him at the course (during the PNC Championship) and we were just crossing paths and he laughed at me. I won’t say exactly what he said but the gist of it was he can’t wait to get out and beat me.”
The senior tour can’t wait for his arrival, either. They are excited about the prospect of Woods joining them, says PGA Tour Champions president Miller Brady.
Some think it’s time for the PGA Tour Champions to revisit the age limit so they can make special revisions for Woods to join early.
“I said, ‘No, we just did this,’ unless Tiger tells me he’d play right now. (If that’s the case), I’ll lower the age tomorrow,” Brady said.
As far as Woods goes, he’s not quite ready to leave the PGA Tour.
“No, I’m not ready,” Woods said. “I want to follow in the same footsteps as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Bernhard Langer.”
