PGA Tour executive Jimmy Dunne, one of the men responsible for brokering the shocking merger between the tour and rival LIV Golf, made a bizarre and controversial statement about 9-11 on Thursday.
Dunne, independent director of the PGA Tour Policy Board, addressed LIV Golf’s connections to Saudi Arabia, the Middle Eastern country home to 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9-11.
Dunne told the Golf Channel that if anyone could find someone proven to be connected to the largest terrorist attack on American soil in history, he would kill them himself.
“Every day, the first thing that I think about is [September 11th],” Dunne said. “Several times during the day, I think about it; and the last thing I think about at night is that. That has not changed since that day….”
Dunne denied that anyone involved with LIV Golf had anything to do with 9-11.
“I am quite certain,” he said, “And I have had conversations with a lot of very knowledgeable people — that the people I’m dealing with had nothing to do with it. If someone can find someone that unequivocally was involved with it, I’ll kill them myself. We don’t have to wait around.”
