Phil Mickelson Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson will make his return to the golf course on Thursday at the inaugural event of the LIV Golf International Series in London. Before that, he made an appearance on the red carpet on Tuesday and his new look certainly inspired a lot of reactions on social media.

Lefty has been out of action since February after he blasted the PGA and supported the LIV Golf series, hand-waving away the human rights violations and state-sanctioned murders by the Saudi government. After catching tons of heat over his comments, Mickelson exiled himself from the sport, missing the Masters and PGA Championship.

As many expected, he officially joined the new tour on Monday and said he has plans to play in both LIV and major events.

Before the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational gets underway on Thursday, June 9 at Centurion Club, there was a gala event on Tuesday for all of the participating golfers and others. Mickelson was on hand and made his way down the red carpet for photo ops. However, there was something about the way the 51-year-old looked that captured the attention of Twitter, in all the wrong ways.

Phil showcased his new look in other photos as well, though the reactions were just as, well, creative.

If this is how things are kicking off for Phil on the LIV Golf series, not to mention the other ironic aspects of these pre-golf events, we cannot wait to see what awaits us in the days ahead.
