There has not been a single player in the PGA Tour that has been more outspoken against the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour as he has continually blasted the league publically. But with his recent injury issues and fatigue, Phil Mickelson thinks that LIV would actually be a perfect place for McIlroy – if any LIV Golf team would take him.

As golf reporter Chris McKee pointed out on Twitter, the LIV Golf format would actually benefit McIlroy greatly given his current issues.

“The more Rory McIlroy speaks lately, the more he validates everything Phil Mickelson said about playing less golf & having an offseason etc and how it will improve the play of the world’s best. Can someone let Rory’s agent know there is an open spot on @SmashGC #LIVgolf,” McKee wrote in a tweet.

In a reply to McKee’s tweet, Phil Mickelson agreed that LIV would be perfect for McIlroy, but expressed doubt that any LIV Golf team would be willing to let him join their squad.

“As worn out as Mclroy was after the Masters and his need for an off season, LIV would be perfect for him. Problem is I don’t think there’s a team that wants him on it because they’d have to deal with all his [antics],” Mickelson said in a tweet.

There’s a slim chance McIlroy would ever even consider going to LIV Golf anyway, but Mickelson’s words are brutal nonetheless.
