Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have always been rivals on the golf course. But that rivalry got kicked up several notches when Mickelson left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf. On Thursday, Phil took a direct shot at Tiger and the PGA players while tweeting through it with some fans.

Mickelson responded to a fan’s suggestion that he and Woods should be captains of LIV and PGA Tour teams in a Ryder Cup-style tournament. Not only did Phil agree with the notion, but he threw down some serious trash talk, saying that the LIV team would beat them so badly that the TV network would have to figure out what to do with the boring coverage.

“It sounds great, but we would dominate them so soundly and it would be over so quick that tv would have to fill an hour of dead time. That’s why it’s not happening at this time,” Mickelson said.

Mickelson got some strong responses to that tweet and he didn’t back down, taking on all comers with some salty replies of his own.

To be fair, Phil is right that a match-up between LIV and PGA golfers would set the golf world on fire. But it’s definitely not happening, at least anytime soon, as the war of words and legal battles between the two sides continue.

In the meantime, Phil’s heel turn continues to provide some great content.
