LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson has been playing professional golf for quite some time. He will take part in his second U.S. Open once the event kicks off on Thursday, and is seemingly very excited for the event at Los Angeles Country Club.
This is the first time that LACC (Los Angeles Country Club) has hosted a major event. This can cause some issues for players that would prefer to have familiarity with the course. However, Mickelson has plenty of praise for the Los Angeles landmark.
Mickelson took to social media to praise the course, even going as far as calling it “one of the best courses in the world”.
“LACC is one of the best courses in the world and is setup in spectacular fashion. This will be an exciting US Open for both players and fans. I can’t wait to get started,” said Mickelson on Wednesday night.

It’s certainly interesting to see Mickelson praise the course and the setup so much, especially since some fans haven’t been nearly as complimentary of it in recent days.
Video emerged on social media of just how demanding the fairways are at the course, with a ball rolling from the middle of the fairway all the way off the fairway on hole 13.
Just how demanding is LACC ? Here’s what happens when you land it just right of the center of the fairway on the par-4 13th. 😳 #TeamTaylorMade pic.twitter.com/MlqF7zjOgO

Regardless, it will be interesting to see how well Mickelson plays at this course that he seemingly loves. The U.S. Open has not been an event that has suited Mickelson’s game in recent years, failing to make the cut in two of the last five years and failing to crack to top-40 every year in that span.
