LIV Golf has found itself in a very precarious position. The Saudi PIF has already announced it would not fund the league beyond this season, and CEO Scott O’Neil is scrambling to secure sufficient new financial backing that would keep the league afloat, all amidst reports of LIV paying players late, missing vendor payments, and canceled festivities.
As hazy as the future of the golf league is, one reporter, Ryan Grimm of Drop Site, is “basking” in the irony of the situation as it pertains to United States President Donald Trump.
“Can we bask in the LIV Golf bankruptcy irony for a moment?” Grimm posted on X.

“Trump collected all the Saudi bribes for himself and then went to war with Iran, which has battered Saudi Arabia’s economy, forcing it to cut back on all its idiotic sports spending. So now LIV is filing for bankruptcy and the golfers who are owed millions are being offered just thousands to settle.”
Not even the President knows what the future holds for LIV
In late April, Trump admitted that he didn’t know what was plaguing LIV or what the future might hold for the upstart league.
“I don’t know what’s happening with LIV,” Trump admitted about the league, which frequently competed at courses he owned, and its problems.

LIV Golf as we know it has come to an end. It’ll be interesting to see where things go from here.
