With the Ryder Cup going on in the United States for this rendition of the event, the crowd tried to show that it can also get involved in some synchronized chanting, something European fans are famous for doing at their soccer matches.
Ryder Cup organizers encouraged the fans in attendance to lean into the European tradition, according to Awful Announcing. Unfortunately, that left them as the laughing stock of social media.
There was an attempt on the first tee to get USA fans to perform a Scottie Scheffler chant set to Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” However, it was such a bad look that it was met with boos from fans in attendance.

Other people reacted to the blunder on social media.
“This is why we’re losing to Europe. What a joke,” Big Cat of Barstool Sports posted on Twitter.
“This is what happens when you charge five hundred dollars a ticket for a golf event at a public course. You price out the loud, passionate, blue collar fans that make Bethpage a nightmare for visitors and replace them with a corporate crowd that has the energy of a board meeting. Of course a manufactured chant for Scottie Scheffler failed,” one fan added.
“Nah, we are losing because they understand team golf. Also, our spoiled guys grow up at swanky clubs putting on 12-14. Euro courses are usually wet and slow. (They adjust better),” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Ryder Cup organizers learn their lesson for the next time the event is stateside.
