Scott Stallings

Golf star Scott Stallings had been anxiously awaiting his invitation to play in this year’s iteration of The Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia. That invitation never came to his mailbox – and now he knows why.

In a Tweet, Stallings said that he’s checking his mailbox several times a day for his invitation and has been disappointed every time. But then he got a Twitter DM that explained everything.

“Literally had been checking the mailbox five times a day and then I got this random DM yesterday,” Stallings said in a Tweet.

The Twitter direct message was from another Scott Stallings who appeared to get the professional golfer’s mail by mistake.

“Hi Scott. My name is Scott Stallings as well and I’m from Georgia. My wife’s name is Jennifer too!!” the DM explained. “I received a FedEx today from the Masters inviting me to play in the Master’s Tournament April 6-9, 2023. I’m 100 [percent] sure this is NOT for me. I play but wow! No where near your level. It’s a very nice package complete with everything you needed to attend. I think we have some confusion because of our names, our wife’s names and geographical location. … I am more than happy to send this package to you.”

The DM followed up with a photo of the invitation with a caption that read “I’m really not kidding I promise.”

While it’s certainly nice of the man to return the invitation to the proper Scott Stallings, it definitely would have been much funnier if he simply showed up to Augusta National with his clubs. He was invited, after all.
