Now that his ordeal with the Louisville Police is finally over, Scottie Scheffler is free to discuss it.
Scheffler was arrested two weeks ago at the PGA Championship because of an incident he had with Detective Bryan Gillis of the Louisville Police Department. Gillis
At the time, Scheffler was hit with four charges including a felony but the police and Scheffler agreed not to pursue this any further to the relief of both parties involved.
Scheffler wants to move on from it all.
“I hold no ill will toward Officer [Bryan] Gillis. I wish to put this incident behind me and move on, and I hope he will do the same,” Scheffler wrote on his Instagram story. “Police officers have a difficult job and I hold them in high regard. This was a severe miscommunication in a chaotic situation.”
Gillis had said in his report that Scheffler dragged him with his car but footage from the incident showed no such thing and Scheffler said the situation began because Gillis didn’t identify himself as a police officer and it escalated from there.
Both parties involved agreed that it’s not worth pursuing and neither will look to press charges against the other. And hopefully, Scheffler can move on from this nasty situation and focus solely on golf from now on.
