As the PGA Tour attempts to compete with LIV Golf and limit more defections from golf’s biggest stars, it looks like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have a plan to help modernize the game with a new “tech-infused” golf league of their own.
On Tuesday, Woods and McIlroy officially rolled out TMRW Sports, a technology-focused company that will feature “progressive approaches to sports, media, and entertainment.” And a day later, we’re starting to get a few details about what this will mean for the PGA Tour – a brand new golf league.
According to Jason Sobel of The Action Network, TMRW Sports Venture is announcing the creation of TGL, a “tech-infused” golf league in partnership with the PGA Tour.
The unsubtle insinuation here is that this will help further Tiger's competitive career. He's been very involved in this process. With no walking between holes, there's a presumption that he will be competing in this league during a primetime TV window each week.

The league is set to start in 2024 and will feature 15 televised Monday night golf matches including six teams of three players each. The game will be at a much faster pace than the traditional PGA Tour events as the league promises 18 holes in two hours.
Notably, golfers will not have to walk from hole to hole in this league like they do in the traditional Tour events, which could extend Woods’ playing career.
“The unsubtle insinuation here is that this will help further Tiger’s competitive career. He’s been very involved in this process,” Sobel said. “With no walking between holes, there’s a presumption that he will be competing in this league during a primetime TV window each week.”
Regardless of Woods’ status, this is a clear attempt at modernizing the golf game and competing with LIV Golf.
