The 2022 Masters at Augusta National are quickly approaching, and all the talk surrounding the biggest event in golf is whether or not Tiger Woods will be able to play in the tournament.

Woods has not played in a PGA Tournament event since getting in a car accident last February, where he suffered open fractures to his tibia and fibula in his right leg, as well as foot and ankle injuries.

This accident led to Woods being hospitalized for several weeks, as well as spending significant time recovering at home in a wheelchair.

He has been rehabbing the injury at home, and while Woods has said that he will never be playing golf on a full schedule again, his name is still in the participants’ list for the 2022 Masters.

A significant update has come on Tuesday that will certainly lead to more speculation on Woods’ availability for the Masters Tournament next week.

He and his son Charlie were seen landing at Augusta National, according to Sports Illustrated’s Bob Harig, with the goal of seeing whether or not his body can withstand playing at the notoriously strenuous golf course.

Woods ended up playing a practice round along with fellow PGA Tour pro and close friend Justin Thomas as well as with his son.

This news certainly got the sports world talking, with many excited at the possibility to see Woods play in the 2022 Masters.

While nothing is final yet on Woods’ availability for the tournament, this certainly feels like a huge step. And it at least leaves the door open for the possibility of him playing.

He has been playing more and more as of late. He recently played in the PNC Championship in December with his son, and practiced at the Medalist Golf Club in Florida just a couple of days ago.

Woods has famously put up some historic performances at Augusta in the past. If he were to return for anything, it seems like it would be to play at this course he obviously loves.

Woods will have to make a decision on his availability by next week. But this could certainly set up for a historic moment in golf if he decides that he can play.
