LIV Golf has very clearly driven a wedge straight through the world of golf, with many players defecting to the controversial Saudi-backed tour over the past few months, the latest of those being British Open winner Cameron Smith reportedly set to defect to LIV in the very near future.

It appears that this potential move from Smith may be the final straw for PGA Tour supporters, and now the face of golf plans to take action to make sure no other big names end up leaving for LIV.

According to ESPN Senior writer Mark Schlabach, Tiger Woods will meet with several of the top golfers in the world on Tuesday in an effort to “rally support” against LIV Golf.

The meeting will reportedly take place at the BMW Championship site in Wilmington, Delaware, and will include “many” of the top 20 players in the world who have not already defected to LIV.

“It’s a meeting to get the top 20 players in the world on the same page on how we can continue to make the PGA Tour the best product in professional golf,” said a player who chose to remain anonymous on Monday.

Many around the golf world that are anti-LIV are happy to hear that Woods is taking matters into his own hands to try and stop the spread of defectors from the PGA Tour.

Considering Tiger’s long history on the PGA Tour as well as his previous comments about LIV and those who have defected to the tour, this type of action is far from shocking coming from Woods.

Of those top 20 players in the world, Smith will not be there as he has already announced that he is pulling out of the BMW Championship due to some hip discomfort.

LIV has been able to continue adding top players to their tour, and this seems to be a moment of desperation coming from both Woods and the PGA Tour.

That being said, if anyone can convince his peers to remain with the PGA Tour, it might just be Tiger Woods.
