It’s been a rough several months for Tiger Woods after dealing with the death of his mother in addition to several surgeries over the offseason. But on Tuesday, Woods had another horrible announcement
In a statement on social media, Tiger Woods announced that he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon while practicing at home.
“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” he announced on social media.
“This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.”
Stucken confirmed that the surgery “went smoothly” and he expects Woods to make a full recovery following the successful surgery.
“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support,” Woods added.
Obviously, this is a devastating and horrible announcement from the golf legend, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.
“It’s not our place to tell him what to do however I hope enough is enough Body has been thru a lot. Enjoy your kids. We will cherish all 82 of the wins and in a lot of eyes He is the greatest to ever touch a club,” Booger McFarland of ESPN wrote.
“Ruptured achilles is a nightmare. I’m sad,” golf insider Dan Rapoport wrote.
“One of the compelling athletes of all time. But how many leg surgeries can he endure and still try to play championship golf?” radio personality Andy Pollin added.
“The 30/30 on his 2026 Masters win at age 50 gonna be epic,” David Bearman of PFN wrote.
“Sad stuff. See you on the Senior Tour, Tiger,” Alex Myers of Golf Digest wrote.
We’ll have to see how Tiger bounced back from this.
