It’s no secret that Tiger Woods is friends with former President Donald Trump. Although he hasn’t been as public about his support for Trump over the years, he has been seen golfing with the former president.

Woods, who rarely speaks on his relationship with Trump, was upset when he heard the former president was almost assassinated Saturday.

Woods told reporters he watched the coverage of the assassination on his way to the 152nd Open Championship at Troon.

“I didn’t accomplish a lot because I wasn’t in the right frame of mind,” Woods said.”It was a long night [because of the assassination attempt] and that’s all we watched the entire time on the way over here.”I didn’t sleep at all on the flight, and then we just got on the golf course.”

After the attempt on his life, Trump is now at the Republican National Convention where he will accept the party’s nomination Thursday night.

Trump and President Joe Biden are both now calling on the country to unify since Saturday. Trump has even said recently that the speech he plans on giving Thursday night has been toned down quite a bit.

The 48-year-old golfer will hope to reverse his recent lack of success on the links when the Open Championship gets underway on Thursday.
