One of the fastest-rising stars of the PGA Tour is Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland, who has won three times since turning pro in 2019. Hovland detailed on Friday that he actually didn’t plan on participating in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but he was intrigued when he saw that his eventual playing partner was in the field.
The Pebble Beach Pro-Am is one of the rare events that features celebrities playing alongside PGA Tour golfers. Hovland was paired up with Chipotle CEO Brian Niccol for the event. It turns out Hovland is a big fan of the restaurant chain, which ultimately convinced him to play in the event.
“Yeah it was obviously a fun deal,” said Hovland of playing with Niccol. “Obviously I was a big fan of Chipotle in college. Didn’t necessarily have the funds to splurge on the double meat and guac. So, yeah, it’s nice to be able to do that now. Obviously playing with the man himself, so trying to get that gold card by the end of the week. We’re having a blast. I didn’t really have a plan to play this week. When I looked on the list and saw Brian’s name on there I figured yeah that would be kind of funny.”

Considering Viktor Hovland has a career winnings of $13.5 million on the PGA Tour in his short career, it is safe to say that he can now comfortably splurge on double meat and guac on his Chipotle order from here on out.
