PGA Tour golfer Greg Owen was a real life superhero last weekend.

The 44-year-old Brit was playing a practice round on the 16th hole at the TPC Sawgrass in advance of this week’s Players Championship and noticed a little bird had fallen off of a tree and into the water. Given the little bird’s inability to swim, Owen acted quickly. He stripped down to his underwear on the course and waded into the pond to save it.

You can hear Owen saying “c’mon buddy,” to the fallen bird as he navigates the murky water. He reaches down with one hand and grabs it out of the pond, bringing it to safety in the grass. Owen then brushes it off before setting it down.

While stripping down to nothing but his underwear may seem silly, it’s actually a very noble thing for Owen to do. The little baby bird likely had little chance of surviving without Owen’s assistance. With his help, it will live to chirp another day.
