Even though HBO only has one more season of both Game of Thrones and Veep left, they’re not bringing all of their popular Sunday night programming to an end. On Tuesday, the network announced that Last Week Tonight with John Oliver had been renewed for another three seasons, which will take the show through the 2020 presidential election.

HBO also announced that the three new seasons of Last Week Tonight would contain 30 episodes.

The renewal doesn’t come as a surprise, given the likely low production costs and the acclaim the show has received over the years.

Personally, I’m excited for the show next summer during the 2018 World Cup in Russia – Oliver famously skewered FIFA on the eve of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and followed that up with a segment the following summer chronicling FIFA’s latest bullshit scandal.

It might be difficult to rag on FIFA without Sepp Blatter around, but I have confidence that Oliver will be able to do it.
