It’s been a pretty rough year for referees and umpires, either because of their terrible calls or because of the treatment they’ve received from others. It’s gotten so bad that even the high school band is getting in on the action.
According to a video posted by Barstool Tate, an Ohio high school band leader was ejected after he called out the referees before the game even started. Union Local High School was assessed a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty over the ejection.

According to Tate, the was displeased with the way that the referees were walking behind the band and decided to voice his displeasure. So ironically, the ejection and penalty didn’t even have anything to do with the football team.
It’s unclear when exactly the incident occurred but Union Local defeated Buckeye Local (what’s with all the Locals in Ohio?) 45-7 on Friday. They also won their season-opener 38-9, so it doesn’t appear that the overzealous bandleader affected them on the field too much.
Still, we’re guessing he’s going to get a stern talking to from the head football coach. That’s if he’s even still the band leader this time on Friday when Union Local plays their first road game of the season.
