Peyton Bowen punt return

Notre Dame football commit Peyton Bowen put his punt return skills on display recently in a touchdown return that must have many Fighting Irish fans thinking about Raghib “Rocket” Ismail.

Bowen, who is committed to the Irish in the Class of 2023, received a punt during the fourth quarter of a game between his Guyer High School and Allen High School. While Guyer cruised to victory, that didn’t diminish the effort of the senior defensive back, who broke six, maybe seven tackles on the 59-yard touchdown return.

Pretty sure Allen HS is gonna be working on their tackling skills in practice this week, but we’re not sure that really mattered given Bowen’s speed and self-control.

Notre Dame has to see the punt return potential as a bonus as they recruited him to play safety. The Denton, Texas player is rated among the top safeties in the nation, so it’s no wonder that he had offers from some of the top schools in the nation. He chose Notre Dame over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Michigan, and many others.

Notre Dame could certainly use a speedster like Bowen on their roster. Right now, they’re 3-3 on the season and are struggling to maintain any momentum. They’ve still got a decent chance to make a bowl game, but that’s not exactly how the Irish measure success on the football field.
