There’s a scary story developing tonight in Ohio, as a high school stadium was evacuated following a bomb threat.
Mason High School officials received the threat, resulting in the cancellation of the game and the removal of fans, according to WLWT:
Authorities told [reporters] the school received a bomb threat.
Butler County’s bomb squad is responding to the scene, police said.
Mason football’s Twitter account asked parents who dropped off children to pick them up immediately.
Authorities are not allowing anyone back on the field at this time.
It hasn’t been said when the game, which was supposed to kickoff at 7 p.m., will be rescheduled.
Mason is a northeastern suburb of Cincinnati, while Moeller is a Catholic school also on the northeast side of Cincy. Moeller has a storied athletic history, with famous alumni including baseball stars like Barry Larkin and Ken Griffey Jr., as well as former Chicago Bear wide receiver and current ESPN 1000 radio host Tom Waddle. Mason has its share of famous alumni as well, including NBC’s Dan Patrick.
While it’s too early to know if the threat was legitimate, it’s nonetheless a scary scene, and thankfully no one was hurt.
