Ryan Mallett, who played for three teams during his NFL career, is now shifting his focus in football to another role — head coaching.
Adam Cole of Arkansas Democrat-Gazzette’s reported on Wednesday night that Mallett will take over as head coach at White Hall High School in Arkansas.

Mallett will be taking over a strong program. In 2021, White Hall finished the regular season at 8-2. The Bulldogs then won three straight postseason games before falling in the 5A State Championship Game to the powerhouse Pulaski Academy, who won its 10 state championship, third in a row and seventh in eight years.
Mallett is familiar with football in Arkansas. He went to high school in Texarkana, Texas, right on the border between Arkansas and Texas. Mallett initially attended the University of Michigan. But after the retirement of Lloyd Carr following the 2007 season, he transferred to the University of Arkansas.
After two seasons with the Razorbacks, Mallett was drafted in the third round of the 2011 draft by the New England Patriots. After two seasons with the Patriots, he spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Houston Texans. From there, he went to the Baltimore Ravens in 2015 and stayed there through 2017, when his NFL career ended. He was primarily a backup during his NFL career. Mallett got into only 21 games and started in eight.
