Two bitter high school baseball rivals brawled Wednesday following their game after a player tried taunting the other team in the handshake line.

After Norwalk High School defeated Mayfair High School, which is located just a few miles away in suburban Los Angeles, the players lined up for post-game handshakes. As Norwalk’s 3-2 win had completed a two-game sweep, one player brought out a broom.

Why the Norwalk coach didn’t stop this blatantly disrespectful move is a story for another day. But Mayfair players didn’t appreciate the taunting. A huge brawl erupted.

Making matters even worse, a spectator who filmed the brawl also caught parents and other fans showering the field with expletives aimed at players and coaches.

Warning: The following video features plenty of NSFW and explicit language.

The California Interscholastic Federation, Southern Section is investigating the brawl. Although both teams are bound for the playoffs, penalties are almost certainly forthcoming.

“The CIFSS is aware of the postgame incident between Norwalk and Mayfair circulating on social media and is in the gathering information stage before any possible disciplinary action is taken,” CIF-SS assistant commissioner Thom Simmons said (via SGVN Sports).

Fans who stumbled across video of the brawl blamed the coaches.
