Edinburg High School (Texas) senior defensive lineman Emmanuel Duron was ejected from Thursday night’s game against PSJA North for unsportsmanlike conduct, and then ran onto the field and delivered a huge hit to the referee who ejected him, as first reported by Andrew McCulloch of The Monitor and RGVSports.

The hit knocked the referee to the ground, and he had to be carted off. He’s being evaluated for a concussion and a shoulder injury.

Duron was escorted out of the stadium by Edinburg PD officers, but was not handcuffed.

Here’s video of the incident, followed by more tweets from McCulloch:

Duron is the reigning District 31-6A Defensive Player of the Year, and is also Edinburg’s kicker and punter (he even made a 51-yard field goal last month). He’s also a star wrestler. But it’s likely that his high school sports career is finished after that Thursday night’s horrible incident.
