Friday night’s CFL game between the Toronto Argonauts and the Edmonton Eskimos got strange on the rainy field in Edmonton in the first half, with two tip-drill interceptions and a pass off a helmet. It then got perhaps stranger at half with Ludacris’ performance, and then in the third quarter, TSN’s feed (which was also being shown on ESPN2 and streaming platforms in the U.S.) from the stadium completely died, leading to them suddenly going back to their Toronto studios:
They eventually got the stadium feed back, and oddly, it started with play-by-play voice Chris Cuthbert reading a World Cup promo and discussing Sunday’s final with analyst Glen Suitor:
After the next commercial break, Cuthbert then apologized for the broadcast’s technical difficulties. (Or, as he said, perhaps for picking Croatia.)
That’s not something you see every day, but we do occasionally get CFL technical difficulties. At least this one was an actual in-stadium problem and not just a glitch with the pickup of the international feed.
