Aaron Judge is headed back to the IL.

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced Tuesday night the slugger has a contusion and sprained ligament in his toe, and will be placed on the 10-day IL.

The right-fielder has not played since Saturday, when he made a sensational catch that ended with him crashing into the bullpen fence, which gave way.

“He is going to go on the IL,” Boone said. “He had a PRP shot tonight. The biggest thing now is trying to get some swelling out of there. Had some improvements today. We’ll just see where we are in the coming days, or week, but the biggest thing is getting the swelling out of there now.”

Judge had just returned May 9 from a stint on the 10-day IL for a hip strain.

The 2022 AL MVP is slashing .291/.404/.674 with 19 home runs in 175 at-bats this season.

Yankees fans were not in a happy mood on Twitter, but some noted the outcome of that play could have been far worse.
