While it might have been a magical season for Aaron Judge last year, the AL MVP and his team ended the year by getting booed by their own fans.

After the New York Yankees were swept by the Houston Astros in the 2022 AL Championship Series, their fans booed them out of the stadium and into the offseason.

While that might have left a bad taste in some Yankees players’ mouths, it wasn’t something that bothered Judge in the slightest.

“Honestly, I had no problem with getting booed,” Judge said, per NJ.com. “That’s what happens when you don’t come through. It wasn’t the first time I’d been booed in New York, probably not the last, so it didn’t come as a great shock. The fans were disappointed at how the season finished. I would’ve booed too. So, no, I didn’t take it personally. Not at all.”

It probably didn’t hurt that Judge was finishing up a legendary season in which he set the all-time AL record with 62 single-season home runs, breaking the record held by Yankees legend Roger Maris. You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who blamed him personally for the Yankees’ inability to win the World Series.

Judge also earned himself a very fat contract and will enter 2023 as a team captain, hopeful to end the boos once and for all.
