We all knew Chicago Cubs’ infielder Addison Russell was having a poor year on the field. Now we know he’s having a rough time off the field as well.

In the middle of Wednesday’s game between the Cubs and the Marlins, Russell’s wife, Melisa, posted a pretty direct message about being cheated on to her Instagram:

“Being free to make your own choices for your own happiness beats being cheated on, lied to, & disrespected any day. #herestonewbeginnings #onlygetsbetterfromhere”

That’s vicious but deserved, if true. She followed up with this tweet:

And social media has not been kind to Addison ever since Melisa’s post.

According to Melisa’s supposed best friend, Addison has also physically abused his wife in front of their two children, although Melisa mentioned nothing about that in her post and Russell later denied it in post-game remarks.

Russell, who’s batting .209 this season, was on the bench for Wednesday’s 6-5 loss.
