The Colorado Rockies are enjoying a fun season, and closer Greg Holland has been far more reliable than not this season. With 34 saves under his belt in 44 appearances, Holland has given the Rockies confidence he can close the door on an opponent when called upon. Unfortunately, this week has not been kind for Holland.

Holland served up a 3-run home run to Yan Gomes in the ninth inning on Tuesday night, shortly after blowing a 1-0 lead. It was the second blown save opportunity for Holland, including a Sunday afternoon blowup against the Philadelphia Phillies in Colorado.

It has become common knowledge that closers in baseball are a different breed. From Mitch Williams to Jonathan Papelbon to Brian Wilson, closers are just different characters all together. Holland may not be as erratic as some of those names, but after two blown saves he is apparently open to try anything and everything to break out of this rut as quickly as possible before it harms Colorado’s playoff chances any further.

So what else is a closer to do than cut his hair?

We’ll see if this gives Holland the breath of fresh air he needs to get back in a groove.

While Holland may be looking for ways to change his luck, there are plenty of Rockies fans unwilling to hit any panic buttons just because of a couple of bad outings.
