Grand slam robbery from Angels outfielder Taylor Ward.

Monday’s matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland Athletics was an extremely competitive affair that came down to the wire. Oakland nearly sealed the deal with a grand slam in the ninth inning, but an unreal catch from Angels outfielder Taylor Ward when it mattered most saved the game.

The game was tied up 8-8 in the top of the ninth inning. Oakland was threatening with the bases loaded and two outs with catcher  Shea Langeliers at the plate. Langeliers drove the ball deep to left and probably would have had himself a grand slam on most nights.

However, Angels outfielder Taylor Ward made an unbelievable play, reaching out over the left-field fence and robbing him of his moment.

Many around the MLB world took notice of this insane play from Ward and praised him for his terrific effort to get to that ball.

Unfortunately for the Angels, this would be the highlight of their night. They would go on to lose this wild game 11-10 after the A’s scored three runs in the top of the tenth innings.

Regardless, without this play from Ward, they likely would have never even had a chance in extra innings. This loss puts the Angels to just an 11-12 record on the season, which certainly isn’t where they should be expected to be with star players like Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani on the roster.
